Tuesday, October 13, 2009 ARRIVE LOURDES Arrive Paris airport at 7:30 and connect with AF7776 departing Paris at 8:40am, arriving Lourdes at 10:10am. where we will be welcomed to Lourdes by our tour guide and motor coach driver. Transfer to the Hotel. In the afternoon orientation tour of Lourdes and after dinner, we will join pilgrims from around the world in the nightly rosary and candlelight procession.
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 LOURDES During our stay in Lourdes, we will visit the historical and spiritual sites associated with Bernadette, the visionary child of Lourdes. We will walk around the Shrine and the Basilica of St. Pius X, the world’s largest underground church. We visit Boly Mill, the Soubirous family home and the Basilica of the Rosa. We will have a bath with the healing water and walk the Way of the Cross. After dinner, we will join pilgrims from around the world in the nightly candlelight and rosary procession.
Thursday, October 15, 2009 LOURDES/ROCAMADOUR This morning we say good bye to Our Lady of Lourdes and take our motor coach and drive to Rocamadour. The Shrine of Our Lady of Rocamadour, near Toulouse in southern France is one of Christendom’s earliest shrines which in the Middle Ages claimed equal importance with the holy places of Rome and Palestine. Also known as the second most famous natural and historical site in France. Built against the side of a cliff, the sacred city is a spectacular site and offers breathtaking views of the valley below. Visit the Holy Redeemer Basilica, Our Lady’s Chapel (pilgrimage chapel), the Black Madonna statue and the museum.
Friday, October 16, 2009 ROCAMADOUR/LA SALETTE We continue our drive in France to the Marian Shrine of “Our Lady of La Salette”, where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared, crying, to the children Melanie and Maximin in 1846 because “Sundays and the holy name of Jesus are profaned.” The shrine of La Salette is located in a high alpine pasture at an altitude of about 6,000 feet. The mountain scenery around the shrine is spectacular and offers the pilgrim an excellent setting for contemplative prayer.
Saturday, October 17, 2009 LA SALETTE/ARS/PARAY-LE-MONIAL This morning we visit the Shrine in la Salette and later depart to Ars to visit the basilica where the incorrupt body of St. John Vianney lies. The Basilica of Ars is divided into two churches, the old and new. The old church is where the curé prayed, preached and heard confessions. Everything has been left intact. The most impressive sight in the new church is the saint’s incorrupt body, which rests in a magnificent reliquary donated by priests from around the world. The saint’s preserved heart is enclosed in a beautiful reliquary in the Shrine of the Curé’s Heart, a separate building. Continue to Paray-Le-Monial, home to the devotion of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Visit the Chapel of the Visitation where Jesus exposed His Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque during a number of apparitions.
Sunday, October 18, 2009 PARAY-LE-MONIAL/NEVERS Today we depart to Nevers to see the places associated with St. Bernadette. On the St. Gildard convent grounds lies the chapel containing the incorrupt body of St. Bernadette. See the museum with historical documents, the convent grounds and the statue of Our Lady of Waters, Bernadette’s favorite statue and replica of Lourdes Grotto.
Monday, October 19, 2009 NEVERS/CHARTRES/LISIEUX Depart to Chartres. The magnificent 13th century cathedral lies in the medieval-looking town of Chartres, home of the veil worn by the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Cathedral has been a place for pilgrimage for more than a thousand years. We continue our drive to Lisieux to visit the places associated with St. Therese of Lisieux, her family home (Les Buissonets), the Carmelite Convent and the Basilica.
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 LISIEUX/MONT ST MICHEL This morning we depart Lisieux and drive to Mont Saint Michel, the island town with its picturesque streets and abbey. Mont Saint Michel is a shrine representing some of Catholicism’s greatest artistic achievement. We will have a guided tour of the abbey and museum and spend time browsing on our own before we take the motor coach and drive to Paris.
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 MONT ST MICHEL/PARIS Today we continue our drive in picturesque France on our way to Paris. Upon arrival, we will have a panoramic city tour of the “City of Lights”
Thursday, October 22, 2009 PARIS Our morning visit will start with the Miraculous Medal chapel on Rue Du Bac, containing the incorrupt body of St. Catherine Laboure. Nearby we visit St. Vincent de Paul Chapel with the saint’s incorrupt body, and visit St. Sulpice Church and Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sainte Chapelle. We will drive through the Champs Elysees and stop at the Eiffel Tower for pictures. The rest of the day at leisure for personal activities. We recommend seeing Paris with the famous Bateaux-Mouches cruise on the Seine River to see Paris attractions on both sides of the river. (not included in the price)
Friday, October 23, 2009 PARIS/NEW YORK Morning at leisure. We will celebrate Holy Mass and then at noon transfer to Paris airport to take our non-stop Air France flight back to New York.
