Monday, September 21, 2009 PARIS/LISBON/FATIMA Arrive Paris airport at 11:50am and connect with AF1624 departing at 1:05pm, arriving Lisbon at 2:35pm. After checking through immigration, please proceed to the exit door and meet your tour escort for a panoramic tour of Lisbon including the Basilica of St. Anthony, St. Jeronimo’s Monastery and Belem Tower. Continue to Santarem, one of the oldest cities in the world and home to one of the oldest Eucharistic miracles. Arrive Fatima late in the afternoon.
Tuesday, September 22, 2009 FATIMA We spend two days in and around Fatima. In the Cova da Iria, we visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Basilica with the tombs of Francisco and Jacinta and Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In Aljustrel and Valinhos, we see the two homes of the little shepherds, Stations of the Cross, site of the first and third visit of the “Angel of Peace”, site of our Lady’s fourth apparition. We stop at the Parish Church and the cemetery where Francisco and Jacinta were once buried. After dinner at our hotel, join pilgrims from around the world in the nightly rosary and candlelight procession.
Wednesday, September 23, 2009 FATIMA/COIMBRA/SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA Depart Fatima and drive towards Spain. If time permits, we stop in Coimbra for a short visit. Arrive Santiago de Compostela late in the afternoon. Santiago de Compostela was the most popular pilgrimage destination outside of Rome and Jerusalem during the Middle Ages.
Thursday, September 24, 2009 SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA We will spend the day in Santiago de Compostela in religious activities in and around the Cathedral, where the relics of St. James, the Apostle, are enshrined in the crypt located below the high altar. Attend the pilgrim’s mass and participate in the services. Time to browse around the city.
Friday, September 25, 2009 SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA/SALAMANCA This morning we drive towards Salamanca. Visit the old Roman style Cathedral with its altar of 53 scenes from the life of Christ and the new Gothic style Cathedral. Enjoy a leisurely walk and shopping at the Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful in Spain.
Saturday, September 26, 2009 SALAMANCA/AVILA Drive to Avila, a city enclosed by high walls, which date from the middle ages. We walk the narrow streets of the city as we trace the life of St. Theresa of Avila. Visit the Monastery of Incarnation, St. Theresa’s cell and see the relics of St. Theresa and St. John of the Cross.
Sunday, September 27, 2009 AVILA/LOURDES Continue our drive along the northern coast towards France. Arrive Lourdes, one of the greatest pilgrimage sites in the world today, where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette. After dinner, join pilgrims in the nightly rosary and candlelight procession.
Monday, September 28, 2009 LOURDES During our stay in Lourdes, we will visit the historic and spiritual sites associated with Bernadette, the visionary child of Lourdes. We begin at the Grotto of the Apparitions, and then continue on a guided walking tour visiting the Basilica of St. Pius X, Boly Mill, Soubirous family home, the Basilica of the Rosary, Miraculous Spring and the healing baths. After dinner join pilgrims from around the world in the nightly rosary and candlelight procession.
Tuesday, September 29, 2009 LOURDES/PARIS/NEVERS Transfer to the train station to take our TGV train to Paris. Arrive Paris and take our motor coach and drive to Nevers to see the places associated with St. Bernadette. On the St. Gildard convent grounds lies the chapel containing the incorrupt body of St. Bernadette. See the Museum and historical documents, Bernadette’s clothing and the convent grounds with the path St. Bernadette walked, the Statue of Our Lady of Waters, Bernadette’s favorite statue and replica of Lourdes Grotto.
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 NEVERS/PARIS Today, we depart Nevers and drive towards Paris. Arrive Paris and enjoy the rest of the day through a panoramic tour of the “City of Lights” focusing on the Cathedral of Notre Dame, St. Vincent de Paul, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Chapel at Rue du Bac, Arc de Triomphe and stop at the Eiffel Tower for pictures.
Thursday, October 1, 2009 PARIS/BOSTON Transfer to Paris Airport to take our Air France flight #332 departing at 1:40pm, arriving Boston at 3:05pm
