Croatian Rafting Federation
This organization is expected to be formally founded and accepted by Croatian Olympic Committee in March 1998.
International Rafting Federation
Croatia will become a member of IRF as soon as administration procedure of national federation is completed.
National championships
The first Croatian Rafting Championships were held on river Kupa in May 1993. From 1994-1996 Atlas American Express was the general sponsor and the competition was called the AmEx Rafting Cup. The final race in 1997 was postponed until Spring 1998 due to very low water levels. The time and venue for 1998 championships will be determined as soon as the national rafting federation is founded.
Camel White Water Challenge
The team of Atlas/Riverfree guides participated as Team Croatia in the 1996 and 1997 CWWC held on the mighty Zambezi River and finished 17th and 10th (1st and 5th in kayak event). The 1998 CWWC is taking place in Costa Rica in September.
European Rafting Championships
The first European Rafting Championships approved by the IRF will be held in Augsburg in June 1998. We intend to have two teams on that competition – yes, ladies too
Selection procedure
The selection races will be organized by Croatian Rafting Federation in Spring 1998 to determine the team that will represent Croatia in the 1998 Camel Challenge. All teams are invited and welcome to participate and take part in organization of the selection races. |
